Azimio leader Raila Odinga has clarified the presence of certain leaders from his coalition accompanying President William Ruto to the United States.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Raila explained that the leaders, including Governor Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay) and Governor Wavinya Ndeti (Machakos), traveled at the invitation of the US government. National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi is also part of the delegation.

“All Azimio leaders accompanying the President were invited by the US government and have both his and the coalition’s permission to join this mission, adhering to established democratic traditions and serving the broader interests of the Kenyan nation that Azimio stands for,” Raila stated.

During the visit to the CDC headquarters in Atlanta, discussions were held to enhance collaboration and expand local pharmaceutical manufacturing. Governor Wanga detailed the visit on her Facebook page, mentioning the signing of critical agreements between the CDC, Kenya Medical Research Institute, Ministry of Health, and the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. “This marks a significant step towards improving healthcare in Kenya,” she added.

Raila urged the accompanying leaders to utilize their visit to foster a better understanding of Kenya’s critical issues among US officials.
