BREAKING: Bob Njagi Freed by Kidnappers, Found in Kiambu County

In a major breakthrough, activist Bob Njagi, who was abducted alongside brothers Jamil Longton and Aslam Lonton in Kitengela last month, has been freed by his kidnappers. Njagi was discovered this morning at 3 a.m., abandoned at Thogoto in Kiambu County. The activist had gone missing on August 19, 2024, triggering public outcry and demands for government action.

Njagi, known for his role as a coordinator of the Free Kenya Movement, was taken by unknown assailants while traveling in a bus in Mlolongo. On the same day, the Longton brothers, Jamil and Aslam, were abducted from their residence in Kitengela, further deepening the mystery. The abductions led to weeks of speculation and anxiety, with the victims’ families appealing for their safe return.

Inspector General’s Failure to Respond to Court Summons

The abductions gained national attention when then-acting Inspector General (IG) Gilbert Masengeli failed to attend a court session to respond to the matter, raising questions about police involvement. His repeated non-compliance resulted in a six-month jail sentence for contempt of court, further intensifying public concern. Masengeli’s failure to provide clarity on the police’s possible role in the kidnappings left many citizens demanding transparency and accountability.

The Longton brothers were found alive in Gachie, Kiambu County, just days before Njagi’s release. While their families have expressed immense relief, they are still calling for justice and full disclosure regarding the circumstances surrounding the abductions. The newly-appointed Inspector General, Douglas Kanja, has since vowed to investigate the matter thoroughly, but the lingering questions about who orchestrated the kidnappings remain unanswered.

As the dust begins to settle, the families of the victims are hoping that justice will soon be served and the truth behind these harrowing events will come to light.
